You almost had me till you compared it to the eee. Way bigger, way heavier, shorter battery life. It's spec make it no better for everyday tasks than an eee (except playing a DVD).

This is good if you want something for very basic stuff, and don't need to burn CDs and DVDs. It's not good for lugging everywhere with you, which is the eees USP.

I am begining to think some of the bigpockets deals are being "planted" by friend of bigpockets.

They all say what great deals they are, then get shot down in flames when everybody says what awful deals they are.

To be honest, if somebody is on a very tight budget and need a laptop, then they could do a lot worse, my main concern is that it only comes with a 60 day warranty, and the battery isn't covered at all, which suggests to me that this is just 2nd hand and not a refurb. Refurbs with a full 12 months guarantee have generally been checked out by the manufacturer to make sure they are up to scratch. I suspect that these have just been wiped and had XP reinstalled on them. If you are on a major budget, then I think nearly £200 is a lot to lose if it fails after a few months.

Not voting either way on this as it's ok for the price if it's all you can get, but if it's all the money you can scrape together then it's a lot to risk.

a fair price for this would be at most £150. Bigpockets are asking a lot to be honest. I wonder how much they paid for them.

i bought one of the MP4 players that were listed and everyone was saying they were graded/returns but the one I received was BNIB and wrapped. The company seems okay but if you are concerned then contact them...

Not strictly true.

I have used bigpockets for years, I bought my very first DVD-rw drive from them when they were the cheapest at £200 !!, since then I have used them on numerous occasions and if I have ever had any issues then they have been sorted out timeously and to my satisfaction.

The last deal I posted was for an In car Ipod controller that was a phenomenal price from them which reached 372 degrees, with comments like this you run the risk of people not posting the deals and the real gems falling through !!

I find the celeron fine for basic laptop use.
This laptop would be fine with a new battery, larger hard disc and more memory, and decent warranty.
