SATA Cables to go with all those new Hard Drives you are buying @ DealExtreme

£0.65

32°

FOUND BY: Diekund 1 year, 7 months ago

These cost pennies to buy and are essential for the running of your new HDDs

For some reason HDD companies enjoy not sending cables with their drives so buy these at the same time and they will arrive when your drive arrives

OEM drives aren't supposed to have cables... you get the cable supplied by the motherboard manufacturer. Who doesn't have a million SATA cables lying around anyway?

Me - I've lots of other cables but no sata - I'd already ordered the sata cable from dealextreme before this post but if you have any spare you wish to dispose of - I'd like 1 please?

Me - I find the plastic breaks easily on them they seem really weak, everytime i strip my pc down for a clean (which living with solid fuel heating and the dust it creates is a regular need for me) one or two break on me each time, at one point all four broke together and typically I hadnt got a single spare!

Just to confirm something.

If you buy a new motherboard, power supply, Sata DVD & Sata HDD you also need both a Sata power cable & a Sata date cable separately for each SATA drive ? eg 2x power & 2x data.

Me??? i got one cable with my mobo. It has 5 sata slots on it. So unless you have some magic way of linking them all together, please explain how 1+0=1million?

I also know about OEM drives and what they should/should not come with. My point was more of a joke than a point.

Most power supplies come with sata power cables on them these days but check when you buy it to save disappointment but yes you will need one power plug per device and one data cable per device as unlike the old ide cables you can only have one sata device per motherboard connection

Thank you - that is what I was expecting. I knew that I would need data cables but the power supply has lots of leads/connections which I thought would do the job.
