GAP Return to Invoice Insurance + Quidco

£86.00

49°

FOUND BY: manicmig 2 months, 2 weeks ago

Just bought a Fiat 500 - I was offered GAP insurance by the dealer - more specifically RTI (return to invoice) GAP insurance - will bridge the gap between the amount the insurance company pays out and what the invoice price was rather the finance amount owing.

Dealer wanted around £260 for up to £5000 payout on a car cost of £9300 for 3 yr cover

I found click4gap on the net

I had 3 yr cover up to £7500 payout for £86!!!

This includes a £10 discount - i put in details and stopped the buying process. After a week i had a £10 discount code sent to me via email. You can also get this by being referred by a friend. (You need to use a particular email address to the company to set up the refer a friend process - they provide on purchasing the insurance).

Also just checked - Quidco are also offering £22.50 cashback - I missed out on this!!! I have no idea if this will work with the discount code or the refer a friend offer

Also phoned them - they are based in Wimbledon and didn't go through to an overseas call centre!!!

Asked them why they were so cheap - no dealer commission, direct dealing etc

Also looks like policies are electronic rather than paper.

Price will obviously vary depending on the car, the cost, cover, etc.

Hope this helps someone - it has helped me!

Matt

Yes they are very good. I bought a policy with them a few years back as they were 1/4 of the price of Audi. I chose replacement gap which is the best one to go for if you receive a large discount on your vehicle.

There's a few others around that are similarly competetive.

Dealers gap insurance is always hugely overpriced..

Check out a quote from these and then cancel the GAP you've had through the dealer if within the cooling off period. You'll save a packet!

I should also mention that the cost of my monthly car repayments dropped by £10 per month by getting rid of the dealer GAP insurance.

Seems a Good deal to me.
Just one thing to check though is that most Insurance companies offer new car replacement during the first 12 months on new cars so you don't need this until your car is over 12 months old if its included in your policy.

Dealers have been making a fortune from GAP for years. A typical policy costs the dealer around £50, and they sell for around £400. It's about time it was available direct to the public. There are a few companies around doing this now, so it's worth shopping around. A few other sites worth checking are gap-insurance-online.co.uk, directgap.co.uk, ala.co.uk, car2cover.co.uk and shortfallcover.co.uk - just Google GAP insurance.

That may be the reason for the cold votes
