Wireless FM Transmitter - £1.99 at Home Bargains

£1.99

191°

FOUND BY: retrogeezer 1 year, 6 months ago

Just picked up a wireless FM transmitter with a car cigarette lighter adapter in Home Bargains for £1.99.

Only has 4 frequencies but can also run off 2 x AAA batteries so great for using around the house too.

Just plug into the earphone socket of your device and away you go.

I'll add a photo of mine in a minute.

I'll go and try it!

Was fine on my hi-fi indoors using the 107.5 frequency, the others had interference.

What sort of range did it have? I'm thinking of small portable radios in the kids rooms and a personal cd player on the landing out of their reach for audio cd bedtime stories1

Right, it says it 'can' have a range of 30 feet or more but 10 feet or less will minimise interference.

Just tried it in both my cars and although both radios would not pick it up on the frequencies printed on the unit (106.7,107.1,107.5 & 107.9) minor tuning either way picked it up no problem on all 4.

The auto tuner in one car also picked up the signal with no problem.....sound quality doesn't seem to be any different to the £30 Griffin one I bought 18 months ago!

Hope this helps.

Poor -> low volume, stereo questionable, no interference if you're lucky. So a bargain? For the price yes.

err....none of those problems when I tried it in both my cars!

I'm not expecting it to provide Bose sound quality but it was pretty good IMHO.

It will do the job, but as far as "quality" goes, as with most products of this type they are absolute rubbish (unless you don't have any particular musical standards of course).

I have had one of these particular models for a while, picked it up so I could use my MP3 player in the car. It gives low quality audio - and you have to crank the Head Unit volume right up just to get anything listenable - so you have to make sure you turn the volume back down before you switch to any other source or you'll suddenly find yourself being deafened as you go back to the radio/CD. As for signal strength... erm, directly below the radio it's "fine", but it complains and breaks up if I keep it in the centre console under the armrest - about 2 feet away.

Sometime the old adage "you get what you pay for..." does ring true.

Don't most cars have CD players instead of tapes these days?
