I have had a look but other than Ebay I can't seem to find them any cheaper, will keep looking but I think you have a good price there for a sprung one

To be honest, this price seems really good for a sprung mattress, I don't think you will find any cheaper, we bought our last two from John Lewis, and they have been brilliant but they cost more than this. We were advised that for a cot/cot bed you may not need a sprung mattress though so maybe you could consider a foam one.

A cot bed should suit a child for the first 5 years. A foam matress looses its shape quickly due to the weight of the child. After 5 years it'll be full of dents...not too comfortable!

I wouldn't sleep on a cheap foam mattress and wouldn't expect my little boy to sleep on one either. Springed mattress with removable/washable cover is the best and safest option.

Our son has a foam mattres that he has had for over four years, its is still holding its shape and has no dents at all. Foam mattress depend on the quality, but also are dependant upon the childs weight etc.

Ditto, we bought a foam mattress for our son, he was been sleeping on it for 6 years and is as good as new, it doesn't creak or have any dents in it. I find it more comfortable to lie on than any sprung mattress I have tried, that is of course my personal opinion.

Do you often try out cot beds?

Regularly!! I have lost count of the number of nights I have fallen asleep in the cot/cotbed whilst trying to get them to settle.

That said I have recently bought a new bed and have bought a foam mattress with it, it is far better than any sprung mattress. So much more comfortable.

It isn't a cotbed, it's a normal size bed, I was merely referring to the fact I have laid on both sprung and foam mattresses and have found foam more comfortable.
