I have had both tomtom and garmin systems and actually have both PocketPC programs on my HTC Kaiser - they both have strengths and weaknesses.

The TomTom has much better menus/software - very intuitiive (easier for novices).
The Garmin has more attractive and less error prone maps (better display of maps).

Voted hot but you pays your money and you take your choice.

does it have sirtIIIstar chipset, my pal has garmin 310 and it takes quite a while for his unit to get sat signals etc and dynamic routing is not that good as well...can any one highlight this...

This was the same price a few weeks ago and I got mine from Dixons online + Quidco @ 3% (every little helps). Still the same price at Dixons!

No problems with the unit, excellent for the price. Never taken me the wrong way and easy to read. Recommended

The 310 and 200W both have the SIRFIII chipset - and both are fast to lock . Does your mate have an athermic windscreen - this is invisible but is an anti-uv screen that blocks satnav signals very well. A lot of French cars have them and quite a few German - that would make any Satnav slow to lock/respond
