Best Digital Camera for £100

POSTED BY: mr_b 1 year, 6 months ago

I'm looking for a new digital camera to share between me and the girlfriend so will be being used for a variety of things. She will probably use it on nights out or for gatherings with friendsand trips away etc and I will prob use it for just the occasional snapshots but also for some of the work I do which involves bodybuilding so the image quality needs to be good/clear/sharp to show the extent of muscular definition etc

Looking for only around £100 and below at the moment but any suggestions also slightly over will be greatly welcomed!

Been looking in the supermarkets and there seems some cheap cameras with great stats but thought i'd come here and get some good advice first as I do not know what to look out for and do not want to buy one with great stats on paper but disappointing results for the spec where I could get much better results with something different

Anybody's advice/suggestions to whats best for me would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

Rob

Been reading about something that stops things like shaky hands ruining pictures and improving the image so a feature like that would be helpful for the bodybuilding work....i'm looking for any deals so anything old/new/second hand/refurbished etc

Check www.dpreview.com for good in depth reviews, but fwiw, I'd go for either the Canon 570 (has image stabilisation over the 560) but takes AA batteries rather than a rechargable Li Ion battery OR
The Sony has an excellent lens (Ziess), but takes MS Pro Duo which imho is a big minus unless you have other sony kit (eg PSP etc.) OR
The Fuji F40fd is the best of the 3 fujis you have there, Li Ion battery, Face detection and good all round picture quality.

Awesome advice and just what i was looking for, as you seem to know a bit about cameras yourself are there any other recommendations yourself or from anyone else that aren't on the list and what would be your ultimate picks??
