Nice if you want to watch high definition films on your Xbox rather than forking out at least £200 for a Blu-Ray player or PS3.

I'm sure the same was said about betamax

..and it went on to be used in the industry for years afterwards as it was far superior in quality to VHS. Seems to be a pattern forming - the better format lost out...

There is a big enough catalogue of HD-DVDs out there to warrant every Xbox360 owner spending a tenner. Some won't even be published on BD, or will cost more extra per disc than this player does anyway!!

HD-DVD won't just disappear as a format.

Now Sony have won the format war by bribing the film studios with hundreds of millions of dollars, maybe they should start bribing the public by subsidising BD hardware, otherwise their BD format will be a dead duck anyway, as it will get overtaken by solid state technoogy.

Nice spot and excellent price whatever the doom mongers may say. Mine is on its way from Amazon.de for the same price and will do as back up to my main Toshiba HD player. All in all I have got the Tosh (1080P upscaler too), 7 HD films and the Xbox HD drive for £80 in the past few months. Whats that equivalent to, about 3.1/2 Blu-ray films? I know which ones I'd rather have, and when I decide that I'm fed up with watching the same old HD films after they become totally unavailable and 1080P upscaling is no longer good enough for me, Blu-ray will be dirt cheap with a dirt cheap back catalogue as the next-gen format should be on the horizon.

You dont have to make excuses and try to rationalise your choice by dismissing superior hardware.

guys i don't now why people (ps3 owner) start crying when there see cheap hd dvds deal

just get over it, if people want to be cheap hd dvd film / or hd dvd players that are going cheap let them

you can buy alot of hd dvds films for far less then normal dvds

i have both ps3 & hd dvd player ( & buy loads of hd dvds films for £4 - £5)

bargain if u have an xbox. Big back catalogue of movies and some as low as 4-5 quid. How can this not be a bargain?? Who gives a sh*t if it's obsolete or not. Its a tenner and will give u the chance to check out watch hd is all about cos at the end of the day there is no difference between the 2 formats.

these can be attached to a pc too with the right software so u dont need a xbox360
