What HiFi 5* Speakers Ideal for Onkyo 505 Bargain £200 off at £299

£299.00

495°

FOUND BY: sibeer 1 week, 1 day ago

If you are considering the Richer Sounds Onkyo 505 deal then I would seriously recommend considering partnering it with a decent set of 5.1 Speakers. The Q Acoustics 1010 5.1 System won lots of awards at £500 about 18 months ago. most retailers are still rating it at this price or a slight discount to £450. Superfi have the set for £299 delivered, bargain.

If you listen to a lot of music and have the space I would seriously recommend the £30 upgrade to floorstanding front speakers left and right. Either way though this is a really good set of speakers for the cash. Many reputable retailers such as AVSales and Creative Audio have been pushing packages of these speakers and the lower Onkyo amps for a while as they are a great match, especially now they can be matched for £500.

Probably because it is £300 for a pair of speakers when most people here would expect to walk into curries/comet/ etc and pick up a 5.1 surround system with integrated DVD player/ Amp for that!! (I'm with the Audiophiles by the way...separates all the way....just can't afford to be one!)

Quite a few seem to mistake good value for cheap tat round these parts *cough* Dell deals *cough* . Which is a shame as some genuinely hot deals get lost because good value on quality products doesn't often get recognised.

It's a good price for this particular set of speakers, but you've got to ask if you'd really notice a huge difference in quality from a cheaper set up. [runs for cover!!]
I bought a sony package including receiver, sub and 5 speakers for £150 a couple of months ago, and am really pleased with it.
This speaker set is for a bit of a niche market, I feel.

Just applied some heat for you.

I have a £500+ seperate speaker system (not including amp or cables), and no matter who comes around they are always blown away and just can't comprehend how awesome it sounds.

You get what you pay for in this world, if people want a £30 set of speakers then go for it.
However if you want something to last you a lifetime then dig deep you won't regret it.
At £299 you can't really go wrong.

Totally agree, most people on here have difficulty reading and spelling too so I hope the deal finder is not too upset.

At the end of the day near half price for a top quality item is good value, especially as it cannot be bought elsewhere for anywhere near that. Would the same apply if there was a listing for a half price Porsche

As people were excited to save £70 on a £250 Onkyo Amp I thought there may be members wanting to match it with something decent. This is my first bargain listed here, think I will stick to listing them at places were the right people are looking

I will also be making my bookmark the deal thread rather than the homepage from now on

Thanks to those adding heat.

Oh and yes this will knock the socks off a £150 Sony 5.1 set

It might be niche, but that doesn't stop it being a good deal. I don't vote deals on nappies cold because my kids are grown up. Heat and rep added. Not having a go at you skinrush, because you've agreed it's a good price, and that is the whole point of this site, surely? It's not about finding cheap stuff only: it's about finding deals that represent good or great value for money, when compared to their normal price, or when compared to other brands or items with the same specification.

"At £500 this package sets a new standard for build, design and sonic quality", "The performance will induce amnesia about how little you paid for it", "superb value".
"Best Speaker Package under £750", "Q Acoustics has made the best even better", "a new standard at this price - any pretender now must combine smart, sensible design and impressive build with outstanding performance".

A good find Sibeer. A true bargain, a quality product at a great price, rather than something which is just cheap.

In what way ? Loudness?, depth of sound?, crispness perhaps?

Unless you live in a detached house within its own acre of land, you can't turn the volume up to a level that would justify buying this.
For sure, the speaker set you've posted and the Onkyo receiver you mentioned will be a better system than a £150 sony system, and If you're the sort of person that listens to a variety of different systems in order to compare, then you may notice a difference between them.

Most people aren't quite that analytic though.

Personally I'm happy to have saved the £330 difference between an Onkyo/Q Acoustics setup and the Sony.

If I felt that the Sony's sound was poor, I'd have taken it back after listening to it.

I'm not saying that this is a bad deal either, and I voted it hot.

Just offering reasons why people might not be voting it hot. ie, its for audio enthusiasts who have lots of spare cash and live on farm/remote island, and can enjoy turning the volume above 1 on the dial.
