Guess what, Microsoft are releasing this August?

POSTED BY: jay_zizzle 6 days, 14 hours ago

Yes! Another damn X360 console LOL.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Microsoft Xbox 360 - JASPER

Microsoft Corp. reportedly plans to release a new version its Xbox 360 video game system code-named Jasper in August and has already assigned IBM and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. to make chips for the new game console. However, there are other important rumours: TSMC got orders to produce the chip for code-named Valhalla Xbox 360 design, which is rumoured to combine microprocessor and graphics chip in a single piece of silicon.

The code-named Jasper design of the Xbox 360 game console will use ATI Xenos graphics and memory controller hub (GMCH) made using 65nm process at TSMC as well as IBM Xenon central processing unit (CPU) produced at IBMs 65nm nodes. The new system design is projected to consume less electricity, use less complex cooling systems and also produce less noise.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When will MS stop messing their consumers around by bringing out slightly better tweaked versioned consoles, which are becoming more PS3 like.

If it were me, id throw in the towel and just release a new Xbox console altogether.

Seriously, how many 360's must we see before the X720 comes to, or whatever it will be called.

what does it matter? How are they messing customers around? For most consumers they wont even know that the console has changed. Look back at previous consoles.. the bulky PS2 for example has many different versions since it was originally launched.

I must admit that they do themselves no favours with all these tweaks/name changes.

I know consoles quite well, but I have no idea what the difference between Premium/Elite and the previous incarnations are.

Sony had the good sense to release one console, and then discontinue it when they released another.

"The PS2 has undergone many revisions, some only of internal construction and others involving substantial external changes. These are colloquially known among PS2 hardware hackers as V0, V1, V2, etc., up to V15b[15] (as of 2008)."

Microsoft have strongly denied that they will have blu-ray since those links were written, rumours about it keep surfacing and have done since HD-DVD went under and everytime microsoft say that they see the future in digital downloads rather than physical discs and so they will not release a blu ray drive. Only time will tell if they stay true to that but as of now they deny that its going to happen

Many different hardware revisions were also done to the original PS1, the serial port was removed in one of them, the major shape change being another, it happens all the time with consoles, see below for the different incarnations of the PS2

Although there have been many console revisions in the past from Sony (PS2), i think you're all forgetting how long the the 360 has been around?

To see this many revisions, this soon is silly and unneccessary.
