I'm 5 ft 2" and I have a bike, unfortunately I can't ride it because my inside leg is 27 1/2" and the bikes minimum is 29" - I know that sounds silly, its not much but I'd like to put my feet flat on the floor.

I wasn't allowed a bike when I was young and so I've never, ever ridden a bike and I'm scared - stop laughing! I don't know where you're from but if its near Birmingham and it will fit her, you can have it. I've only sat on it twice and pushed it up and down the garden. Its got gears and its a Y frame - got carried away with what it looks like and not whether I could actually use it!

Go to a bike shop, ask them and they'll let her try loads. You don't have to buy from them, just find out the type and size of frame she's suited to. Some bike shops, such as Hawkes Cycles have "Scratch Sales" - basically its bikes that have slight marks on them - paintwork wise but everything else is perfect - brought both my boys bikes from them - got £60 off each, for a brown tape mark! I brought mine off Ebay.
