Air Conditioning Unit

POSTED BY: BurningFeetMan 6 days, 5 hours ago

With the warm weather quickly approaching ive decided to get a air conditioning unit, I wondered if you guys and gals with your super bargain hunting skills could help me get the cheapest/best buy availible.

I'm not overly keen on the units that utilise an ice compartment to aid cooling, however i appreciate any comments :)

Thanks guys and gals

You will find these machines noisy and will also want to consider just how much electric you are going to use!

Much better to buy a large portable fan!

The cheap ones are c**p, use loads of electricity and are noisy. I bought a Delonghi Pinguino which are great but they are expensive to buy. Make sure you compare the Btu/h (cooling capacity) and energy efficiency.

Some need a water bottle filled to operate and they also all need venting to get rid of the hot air. Sometimes there are limits on how high the vent hose can be to operate properly.

I have a moveable floor model one I bought about 2 years ago. It works OK if you run the vent out the window. There is a deal going on Ebuyer for something similar IIRC. They do use a lot of power, but my bedroom gets up to 90 in the summer during the day and I work nights - so the noise was worth it.

Here's the deal: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/18215...-9000-btu-w-r/
