I think you will find this is an error on dells part and refers to buyers wishing to purchase additional psu's
It would be very unwise of dell to allow you to purchase a notebook without the means to recharge the battery (fit for purpose).
The exact same notebook on dells small business site makes no mention of the above and the price is the same at checkout.

There was a similar case recently so I phoned Dell and they confirmed that it does come with a power supply.

Hi guys,
Does anyone have one of these Vostro 1400 machines? If so can you tell me what the speakers are like. My teenage daughter is looking for a £300ish laptop but would like to play music when she's on msn etc, not loudly but half decent. Since her P/Bell died she's been using my trusty D410 with headphones due to it's "plinky plonky" mono speaker as she puts it.
I've been looking at one of THESE , but cannot find any reviews. Any thoughts gratefully received.

Thx.

ok but not great tbh. Contains two tiny oval speakers (many have two for each channel) in top panel which distort at listen-able volumes unless you kill the base with an equaliser. Remember this is a business machine so I guess multimedia comes second but still a very nice machine. You could always attach some external portable speakers I guess..?

I've got three at my house at the minute - they, in my opinion are quite nice machines - the thing that I can find fault with are the screens, apparently they use three different screens during the build process (its pot luck) and the one that I've had in two of the machines is kind of washed out, its not as vivid as what I would like it to be or have seen on other machines.. Saying that though, I'm quite chuffed with them.

I think the good one is the LG screen as most 14.1 used in laptops are LG, even my dreaded Acer 14.1. The washed out one i can only imagine it to be a Sharp or something.

I think you'll find that Celeron is more than capable of doing all daily tasks apart from gaming.

It's a 5xx series Celeron, which means it's essentially a Core 2 Solo, i.e. one core of a Core 2 Duo.

It's got more than enough 'oomph' for what it's going to be used for.

That's not a bad spec, dual core cpu (although pentium not c2d). This dell is a 14.1 screen so is smaller and likely lighter. If you're looking for a 15.4 it's not bad, but have a look at what else is going. If you want a 14.1 this is good value.

Oh and whatever you do stay away from Acer, cheap and nasty company, even if they are selling for cheap.

Totally agree, some people have a vendetta against them for some reason. I compared my M530, 1Gb laptop with a TK57 Turion 1Gb laptop. The celeron was faster at starting and running Word for the first time!
