i dont understand why you need a gps to view pictures, videos and mp3s. surely it having a map on it is enough of a distraction for the police to give you abuse for playing with it, never mind looking at pictures etc

anyways it looks nice and thats a good price

Hi,

I am led to believe that the sirf II chipset is far inferior to the sirf III. Sirf II allegedly drops signals alot and takes an age to get up and running. Having never owned a sirf chipset i am only going on what i have heard, so for an extra tenner i think you are getting a much better gps system

Why do you think people would look at photos etc while driving ? It's a versatile and useful gadget .
I agree the bigger one is the better buy.
It will be interesting to see whose mapping system they are using.

From experience, I found the SIRF II chipset to be awful (the original TomTom one had it).

Struggled to get a signal in many places - if it was foggy/cloudy it would hardly lock on to a signal, same if you were driving through heavily populated areas or country lanes with lots of trees.

The Sirf III chipsets are so much better, it's almost the difference between night and day! I got caught out many times with the II chipset taking wrong turns or guessing where to go because the signal was consistently poor.

Good deal otherwise though.
