these are quoted as having 20gb hdd, is this solid state like the originals?

can an external cd/dvd rewriter be connected to this?

will there ever be a version with a optical drive?

yep u can connect a usb dvd writer to it, but doubt they can fit one internally.

Or you could get the 12GB version with Win XP for £310.50 + p&p

Not that I've ever used this Co, & looks as tho they're still waiting for stock.

I love the design and idea behind these, i do think they are hiking the prices up to cash in now, voted hot as in stock and various discounts make it the cheapest probabily to get.

I think they will drop in price soon when the competition is released very soon, msi wind ect.. Plus there will be a new model out soon as well.

I've just took my second one back for a refund due to problems with the screen, also note that the batteries that are coming with these are lower capacity than A.that reviews showed B.that other countries are getting.

I think it was Hong Kong that got the same batteries as we in the UK are getting but Asus are offering them a free exchange for a better battery. No sign of that in the UK though :(

Voted hot though as this is the cheapest i've seen them. Just hope no one gets 2 duds in a row like me :(

I got one of the Marshall Ward 4Gb deals at £186 for the 7". Then added an Ebuyer 16Gb High Speed SD card. Installed Lite version of XP through USB and it rocks. Dont think the 9" is worth the extra and its fun strippinng Linux off and Streamlining XP just how you want it.

There's unlikely to be a version with an optical drive, unless it was a mini-CD drive which would be rather pointless.

This is a great price. Really tempted to buy one after seeing vidoes of UT running smoothly on it.

I have seen a sudden rush to buy these 'micro-pcs' but I fail to see the appeal. The main reason that I can't get my head around it all is the price - you can buy a decent laptop for the same money or less. What is it about these that make them so appealing? Please educate me!!
