beware you'll need a monitor which is HDCP compliant in order to get a picture from a PS3

if this deal had a DVI-I then I would have been interested (very interested for the money)

also say you got a HDCP monitor but it only had a DVI-I output and no HDMI....you could always grab yourself a HDMI>DVI cable instead

HDMI isn't critical but it would help

"so whats the smallest screen you can get away with for hd gaming on ps3?"

How close do you want to sit to the screen? How big is the room? How far away are you going to be?

It will take a 26 inch LCD for you to see very much noticeable difference in playing games between 480p and regular 'RGB' scart. It will take a 32inch to be able to tell the difference between 720p and 480p. It will take a 40inch screen to tell the difference between 1080i and 720p, and probably 60-70 inches to tell the difference between 1080p and 1080i.

I personally wouldn't touch 'HD' gaming with less than a 32inch screen in a medium sized room (small lounge) or, if it was a bedroom or back-room cum office arrangement, a 26inch at absolute minimum.

Ideally you want to be 32-40.

And remember that the quality of the screen does count. Better to save up and get some quality, than to blow cash on a 'bargain' now, and realise you could have done better.

Anything Samsung in terms of LCD TV's is going to be excellent, and probably 30-40% cheaper than the Sony equivalent (which is generally Samsung inside anyway)

personally I would go for a 32" for gaming... but i started off with a 26" and that wasn't too bad considering it was being used for just gaming... but then started to get the family watching movies i would have playing on my xbox and xbox 360 so thats why I upgraded to the 32"... After that died I went with a 50" plasma!!!!
Next one will be a 65" ;)

If it's not going to be connected to a computer then get a TV. Computer monitors can do double duty as a TV but if it's not going to be used for a computer then you're better off with a TV in the first place.
