i used them when travelling in south east asia (bali, malaysia, etc) a few years ago, they're like ryanair/easyjet. with the frequency of flights it's great for short journeys if you want to get anywhere on their route. the airline staff had a special draw on the day we flew to bali, which was kinda sweet! u feel like you're transported into a school bus ... hehe

voted hot.

They are not "free flights"! Will people stop swallowing this marketing rubbish and repeating it here? Don't abuse the word "free" when it is completely untrue. Look - free bananas - you just pay £1 a pound "tax" - wow!

Who rattled your cage?

They are "free" because the tax is charged by Government, not the airline and is not a revenue stream for them.

Still a good deal

Could it be the opening poster?
:

Is the money I pay on these taxes somehow different from the money I pay for the rest of my ticket? No - they are not free - show me where I can get a flight without paying money. That is the definition of "free" - nothing else.

It may well be - but please advertise it on its merits, not with the inherent dishonesty of saying it's "free" when it isn't. We are supposed to be bargain hunters here, not dumb consumers lapping up every dreadful marketing tactic of the big corporations. Please tell us how much they cost - people rightly don't like it when things are advertised on here with hefty hidden postage charges - why is this any different?

Thu 02 Apr 2009 - Gold Coast (Brisbane) (OOL) to Kuala Lumpur LCCT (KUL)
0.00 AUD Economy Promo

392.00 AUD XL Promo
* Fares exclude taxes and fees Fare Rules

Total "free" fare inc taxes is AUD 137

The "standard" fare inc taxes is AUD 592 - a difference of AUD 455!!

How is that not a bargain

Some people!

Part copied from http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp...476&sec=nation

After arriving in KL you can then use AirAsia to fly almost anywhere in Asia.

RM = Malaysian Ringgit so RM1,200 = GBP 200 (although this probably does not include tax).

To London and back - for RM1,200
By WONG SAI WAN

KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia X will start its flights to London in March next year. And it will cost only about RM1,200 for a return trip on an economy ticket.

The country’s first long-haul budget carrier had announced last year that the Kuala Lumpur-London route would be its mainstay but could not take off because there was no suitable aircraft.
