Free sample of Shinka DVD-R & DVD+R discs (Taiyo Yuden)

I was looking for some good quality blank dvds, and came across the CVB Media website.

They are the distributor for Shinka DVDs. It looks like they normally cost between 49p - 69p per disc for these (both +R and -R are Taiyo Yuden dye)

Anyway, they will send you a sample if you get in touch with them. Simply click on the link below, and ask if they would be kind enough to send you a sample of their Shinka DVD-R/DVD+R.

I emailed them yesterday, and they have put them in the post to me...I will post details of the quality once I receive the discs.

I had some of the Shinka +R's, never again, films jumped about all over the place, and they noise they make inside your DVD player, sounded like it was doing no end of damage.

I just burnt the DVD+R and its definitely Taiyo Yuden Dye (YUDEN000T03).

The quality is very good as well. It rated 96% on DVD info at max speed (not quite as good as my Verbatim's I've just got through - they rated 97%). No jumping and no funny noises from any of my dvd players either!

I have just burnt and tested the DVD-R....96.58% rating using DVDinfo, which would have been higher, except for one single spike around 1.5gb into the scan. The dye on this disc was Taiyo Yuden TYG03.

Superb quality....next thing for me is to test the print quality as both discs they sent me were full-face printable.

Cheers...I've printed on both now as well. They are not the best surface, but there was no bleeding of colours, and the pictures printed well.

printable surface is close to inner ring edge to edge almost, not the usual gap.

Discs are good, I've had a sample too, but they are very overpriced compared to Taiyo Yudens from SVP

...the 2 free samples aren't overpriced though!
