Pop into any Sainsburys on Friday 16 May and they will give you a free pint of their orange label 1% fat milk or a coupon to claim if stocks are depleted. Basically 1% fat milk has less fat then semi-skimmed, but does not taste as "watery" as skimmed milk. May as well give it a try if its free.

On 30th April, Sainsburys became first supermarket to sell own brand 1% fat milk. It contains 40% less saturated fat than semi skimmed. The good news is, in taste tests 2 out of 3 people couldnt tell the difference. All of which adds up to us being 100% confident youll like it.

Our newest type of milk, with about half the fat content of semi skimmed milk but all the taste. It contains the same amount of calcium and B vitamins as semi skimmed and skimmed milk but is not recommended for children aged two and below. Please note photo shown shows a 2 pint pack as i could not find a photo for 1 pint.

Wouldn't try this again even if it is free! I think I'll stick to semi which is only 1% more fat anyway. Seems a big difference when they quote 40% less saturated fat but in the grand scheme of things it is a drop in the ocean

Still seems more like pouring water rather than milk to me. Although everyone's taste is different so you might as well try it for nowt.

No. Sainsbury's are the first supermarket to launch it so Tesco do not have it yet - although no doubt will copy it soon. And more to the point Tesco are not giving the stuff away for nothing!!!!
