Not really up with the latest technology on printing on cds and have been meaning to ask, so you can print straight on these? Need a special printer?

lightscribe uses special lightscribe disks - it uses the laser to create an image on the top surface of the disk.

Could cold voters please let me know where to get a hotter price on these?

lightscribing takes forever to do, so if you have to label many discs that's not the way to go.

I can't see how you can print on these printable CDs. Every time I try they either jam the printer or snap as they go through the rollers.

So THAT'S what I'm doing wrong. No wonder I couldn't get the printer replaced under guarantee when it jammed up

Yes you need an inkjet printer supports printing on them such as a Epsom R200 series (R200/220/265 etc), Epsom R300 series or a Canon Pixma IP4000 series (4000/4500 etc).

These have a special tray which holds the DVD/Cd and fits into a motorized slot near the bottom of the printer

Thanks for the answers guys!

Any ideas on rough prices of the printers?

Edit - Around £50 by the looks of a quick search. May invest soon.

Watch out for the latest Canons and Epsoms, they have chipped cartridges and it can be difficult to find compatible cartridges for them. The Espom R285 isn't too bad now, they are available for about £1.50 each (twice as much as those for my R220!) but the IP4500 cartridges require the chip to be removed from your empty original cartridge and to be fitted on to the new compatible cartridge.

A couple of reasons I think:

1. folk think that all the pcworld x.97 offers are out of stock (and they usually are)
2. compared with non-printable non-verbatim disks these are more expensive than lesser brand non printable disks

For branded, printable disks on the high st. I think they are a good deal.
