If Mbeki was in league with Mugabe do you not think he would have allowed banned south African ports from accepting delivery of weapons shipment meant for Zimbabwe? After Iraq the UN doesn't want to help Britain or America do anything and who could blame them after both countries decided it would be best to go against the UN security council and invade Iraq. Zimbabwe is a bad situation but i do think the Sudan situation is far worse and better dealt with by the UN, so in closing the UN is not a waste of time just because they aren't doing what you want.
So will they do something in the Sudan then? Not on your nelly. Nor will they so something in Zimbabwe, Somalia, Burma, in fact any country that has no assets worth 'liberating'. SA couldn't be seen to be helping Mugabe. Do we assume that, had the world's attention
not been on that shipment, he would have done the same thing? I very much doubt it. It's the difference between 'on the record' politics and 'off the record' politics.
As for Iraq, do you think the UN would ever have given a mandate? Iran is building bombs to obliterate Israel at this very moment and the UN just stands by and watches LMAO
