EXPIRED - FOR SALE/SWAP 2002 PEUGEOT 306 L DIESEL

Hi All.

Got a 2002 1.9 Diesel Engine 306 with 1 previous owner (The Police Force).

Tax until the end of the month and MOT until 30/11/2008. There is no service history with the car as the Police do all their services themselves and hence give no paperwork for service. There is a service book still new with no stamps.

Full Service Done Recently
New Parts Fitted
Electric Windows
Central Locking
Power Steering
Front Fog Lights
Original Wheel Caps
Brand New Spare Tyre

No CD/Cassette Player - if the car sells for a decent price, il leave the Kenwood USB MP3 CD Player.

I have had the car serviced a month ago. Whilst it was serviced, a new fanbelt was put on. Last week a new cambelt was put in and a new water pump.

FULL SERVICE DONE A MONTH AGO
FAN BELT CHANGED (03/05/2008)
TIMING BELT CHANGED TODAY (05/05/2008)
WATER PUMP CHANGED TODAY (05/05/2008)
NEW HEADGASKET (05/05/2008) - This was done whilst the head was checked to see if any valves were bent.

The car is in daily use and the mileage will increase.

Looking at £1800 for it. Want to get a cheaper 306 D and a 125cc motorbike.

I did not really need to change the timing belt if the fan belt had not broke. I was on my way to Wales two Fridays ago when the fan belt broke. I got recovered by the AA to my brothers in Newport (AA invoice to prove this). I bought a new fan belt and got it a mechanic to put it on. He found that the fan belt had got caught up in the timing belt and the engine cog. This knocked out the timing. I then got the car recovered to Birmingham (AA invoice to prove this). I then purchased a new timing belt and had this done. My cousin realised that there was slight drops of water dripping and a new water pump was fitted. Whilst doing this, he suggested that I may aswell get a new headgasket put in as he was near it. Nothing was wrong with the old one. The engine was thoroughly cleaned and all air pipes were cleaned. This allows the engine to breathe efficiently. Not like your normal 306's on eBay where nobody bothers to clean the diesel engine in the hope that it lasts forever!

THE HEAD WAS ONLY TAKEN OFF AS MY COUSIN DID NOT HAVE A TIMING DIAGRAM TO PUT THE TIMING BELT ON PROPERLY. HAYNES MANUAL DOES NOT HELP! THIS IS WHEN I JOINED THE 306 FORUM WHICH I PAID FOR...

I have the old timing belt and water pump. I have booked my CBT for the coming Tuesday and my Theory Test for 2 weeks on a Wednesday. Im hoping to pass CBT and ride on a 125 for the time being and get some practise in for the big bike!

You could try Woodlinkin garage (01773 712 212) its 5 mins from Ikea. They may take it off you or have something to part exchange for. I use these guys and they are great, far more knowledgeable than the main dealer.

It's worth a phone call to see what they can offer.

Trade offer ridiculous prices! Even if they were to take it, im looking at a cheaper car and a 125cc bike. This they may not be able to offer me.
