Rechargeable Batteries 4 x AAA Hybrio 800mAh Ni-MH (charge retaining type) £3.99 @ Screwfix

£3.99

134°

FOUND BY: ibiza 1 month, 2 weeks ago

Attached vouchers: £10.00 at Screwfix

Pack of 4. Economical and environmentally friendly, ready to use batteries. Rechargeable up to 500 times, and compatible with any standard battery charger. 5-year battery life.

These are the type that retain their charge if not used, so 800mAh is about the norm.

A far better buy than the misery types on Ebay - or the dubiously rated BTY brand that appears to claim twice the battery's actual capacities.

There are 120 Screwfixes distributed about the country for you to pop into to buy these - but if you do decide to have them delivered the postage is a rather prohibitive fiver on sales under fifty quid. So its only really worth visiting to buy these or to use them to up an order over the free delivery threshold. If you do - then there is quidco at 6% too.

I gave the rest of the rechargeable batteries on their site a once over - and there are no others that seem a good price to save you looking.

To be fair they are like mobile phone batteries - and you need to give them about ten charges before they reach their real capacity.

I am buying them for bike lights over summer - as I only need them a couple of days a month - so they should be able to last all summer on one charge.

If your local Asda still has them in stock, then they are £2.99 for the AA and AAA 4-packs. I'm sure it's been posted elsewhere.

My local Asda (Trafford) has a higher price on the tab, but they scan at £2.99.

£3.15 last time I bought some at Asda.

The best batteries you can find unless you always drain your batteries in a couple of days.

Sob, I wish I saw these earlier. I paid "half price" at Maplin for "ordinary" 4 x Uniross AAA 1000mAh batteries.

Would I need a different charger for these charge retaining batteries? I have a Uniross "Ultra Fast" charger which takes about 3 hours.

You're welcome.

Wandering a bit OT - i was thinking about getting another set of walkie talkies - and the Binatone Terrain 550 s looked a good bet - have you any knowledge of them?

Got these in Asda about a month ago for £2.99. They had both AAA(800mh) and AA(2100mh). It says on the packaging that they can be recharged using any charger.

C and D type batteries have never really been taken as far as AA and AAAs with rechargeables - although its possible to get two with decent capacities for 15 and 20 quid respectively in Maplin with a capacity of about 5000mAh.

All the other C and D types seem to have lower capacities than the recent high charge AAs, and as a result of this normally a battery converter is used to change an AA into the C or D battery. This is basically a big case the shape of the C or D cell that the AA fits inside.

These tend to go for sill prices seeing they are just plastic tubes with a metal contact at one end - but a set with a pretty **** charger and NiCad rechargeables is available for about 8 quid - which you can get quidco on - but I think about four quid postage - so only worth it if you are getting something else.

Its worth mentioning this is only 4 x AA and 4 x AAA - but with 4 x C and 4 x D converters - and a charger.

:
Details

includes the following:
- 4 x AAA 250mAh Ni-Cd batteries
- 4 x AA 700mAh Ni-Cd batteries
- 4 x C size converters
- 4 x D size converters
Product Codes

EN0030
THIS IS A GOOD BUY FOR THE CONVERTERS - THE BATTERIES ARE Ni-Cd (not NiMH) AND ABOUT A THIRD TO A QUARTER OF THE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE CAPACITIES - ALSO THE CHARGER HAS NO OVERCHARGE PROTECTION
