help-need a digital camera for a birthday present am really stuck.

POSTED BY: yorkshirepudding 1 month, 2 weeks ago

hi guys, i've searched through the recent threads but none of it really makes any sense to me at all. my boyfriend really wants a camera for his birthday, but I haven't got a clue what to get. he used his dad's fuji lately and really liked that, i think he mentioned 30 fps and i think it was 7mp i can remember what optical zoom it was but i think he was hoping for a 5x one. he wants it for photos and short videos. i have no idea what makes are good, i also heard somewhere that its not really the mp or the x optical zoom but the quality of the lens that makes the difference, and that really threw me. he's really particular about this stuff and i soooo want it to be right, i would be heart broken if he didn't like it. please help.

I have just listed a brand new one on Ebay which runs out on Sunday night, its a GE A735, red 7.2MP, if it doesn't sell you are welcome to put in an offer, we bought it for £65 delivered from Amazon, but open for reasonable offers after Sunday if not sold.

I have a Fujifilm FinePix, it is very easy to use and I have had it a couple of years now. Never had any problems, it was even used for GCSE photography by my daughter!

hello, checked the Steve Digicams website which is quite reliable ... but this one did not have a majorly positive conclusion .... attached conclusion below -

Bottom line - as stated before, the A920 and A900 are virtually the same camera, with the exception of the larger LCD. Like the previous model, we have mixed feelings about the Fuji FinePix A920. While it produced nice 9-megapixel images, and the larger 2.7-inc display is a welcomed addition, the slower shooting performance times, and sub VGA movie mode bring it's appeal down a bit. Even at the low price of $199 or less, there are plenty of compact models out there that offer equal if not better image quality, performance, and at least VGA resolution movies.
