Ebay changes feedback system

I like it - I mean if a Buyer is rubbish and you leave negative feedback the seller will do the same

What obligations does a buyer need to meet for positive feedback? As a seller all I ask is that they pay within a decent timeframe, as a seller there is much more criteria to fill like describing an item honestly, packaging an item well, despatching quickly, if there is a problem handling it politely and reasonably etc etc.

a buyer needs to pay in good time obviously (as you say), they also need to conduct any aftersales business in the correct manner too. Many buyers have a problem and they leave negative without even trying to contact the seller to sort it out. Some buyers will try to claim they haven'y received items or that items are damaged.

I recently had someone who was very reluctant to pay, now I can't warn others about them by giving negative feedback.

Its a unfair system. I mainly sell colthing and stuff, the number of times you get customers who have strop cos they've not read the description proper, get a size to small because they are in denial about their true size. I sold a pair of size 6 jeans once and then customer gave me awful neutral feeback cos they didn't fit her ... strange thing was all the other clothes she had been buying were size 8!
Winds me up, newer ebayers are the ones who oftern leave neg cos they not read description or asked questions etc.
It looks like a lot of seller feedback is going to go downhill, probably mine included despite being honest with descriptions and posting quickly.
This will deter small occasional sellers like myself and ebay will just be full of powersellers.

This, along with several other changes, are designed to do just that. eBay has stated that it wants to become a more 'legitimate' marketplace, so wants mainly professional sellers.

Why do alot of people have a problem with Ebay? I only ever use it to buy small value items, or hard to find items. Like maybe a phone cover, never high value, maybe thats why I never had a problem? I have problems with PayPal though.

Most buyers (like yourself) DON'T have a problem with Ebay.

It's the sellers (ie the people Ebay take fees from to pay thier wages) that generally have problems with them, and rightly so.
Over the past few years, Ebay's rules have gradually been weighted more & more AGAINST sellers and it's very unfair IMO.

The reason for these changes has nothing to do with whatever PR spiel they spurt out at the time, and everything to do with increasing thier profits.

This new feedback rule is just laughable.

I would hate to be someone who earns a living selling on Ebay, because I'd constantly be stressed out about what stupid changes they were going to make next that could seriously impact my business.

I'm very aware that the vast majority of big companies are in business to try and make as much money as possible whilst caring as little as possible about thier customers, but Ebay seems to take this to a whole new level IMO.

I used to like ebay...now they suck
mind you i have never once had a problem with feedback...though a buyer did rip me off once, couldn't leave feedback because they got the item and then unregistered. probabbly under a new name now. ebay is on a very slippery slope imo
