Logitech Easycall Wireless Keyboard & Wireless Laser Mouse - both Instore and Online

Just bought this myself and thought the following info would help others catch this bargain!

The mouse, keyboard and noise cancelling speakerphone are all very good, although the PC120 headphones are only average. The mouse is a little weighty but still good enough for gaming with. The keyboard has shortcuts ofr skype, however I havent install the Logitech Setpoint drivers to see if I can remap them to Microsoft Live Messenger.

Strangly, the Logitech 120 PC headset alone is retailing at £13.95 at Novatech (although can be found cheaper elsewhere)!

A noteworthy benefit of this set is the lack of wires. There is only one USB connection from the speakerphone unit to the PC. This speakerphone unit provides wireless connectivity to the keyboard and mouse and also provides the microphone and mono speaker..The headphones plug into the side of the unit to give stereo - useful for playing games.The aulity of speech playback through the speakerphone is very good, however music does suffer a little (as to be expected) but is certainly better than some of the nasty speakers Ive seen supplied with friends prebuilt PCs.

The USB Audio drivers can be easily selected within MSN Messenger, or any other configurable application (such as audacity). The drivers dont seem to clash with my other soundcard (M-Audio Delta 44) thankfully!

I have Vista 32bit and I plugged this unit in and it worked without any CD installation !

I will have to install SetPoint 4 when I decide I want to configure my keyboard, however I am currently happy with the media and web automatic key assignments. Software updates are available from here: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/433/136&cl=gb,en

I got the MX3200 for the same price posted before it has the same mouse so i will comment on that... it is EXCELLENT! so responsive and you get a search button and zoom buttons too.

with the search button you just highlight some text and press the little search button on the mouse and it will use the search engin of your choice (mines is set as google) and it searches the term for you!

logitech is known for reliability too!

The headphones plug into the keyboard? Doesn't that mean the headphone wire is draped over you desk/keyboard and gets in the way?

Also, what's the positional audio like on the headphones? Obviously it's not going to be up to X-fi or dolby headphone level but is it any use?

Most of the threads on logitech deals have people saying there keyboard has failed after a few years. While that's probably reliable enough for this keyboard where the added 'features' will be out of date in a few years if you're after real reliability there are probably better alternatives out there.

I think they plug into the receiver unit rather than the keyboard.

The headphones pluginto the side of the speakerphone unit, as seen above in one of the pictures.

Positional audio is only reasonable - put it like this I have played CS-Source with it however there is no reason why you could use your existing sound setup for games if you so desired (and the game allows you to choose the sound device). This easycall device will happily coexist with other sound cards but its primary focus for this device is speech. Might be worthwhile looking at another solution tbh.

I've several logitech wireless devices and the only thing that has ever died on me in the past is the ball mechanism in the wireless mice. I also think that you will be able to connect other keyboards to the base unit (assuming its the same 2.4ghz technology).

My house is full of Logitech keyboards and there is nothing wrong with their build quality. They're extremely reliable and the first brand I look for. Mind you the Edge keyboard is ludicrously dear...

Worth it just for the mouse. Hopefully I can snag a set at a store
