Best resorts / things to do around Costa Del Sol (Malaga) Area?
POSTED BY: csiman 3 months, 3 weeks agoWe have a flight and now looking to book a villa. 40 years old so not really looking for anywhere too hectic and busy like Torremolinas.
Considering Torrox, Benalmadena and Fuengirola amongst others.
Can anyone with good knowledge of this area give me any hints on where is relaxing with plenty of bars & restaurants whilst not being too busy like the benidorms/magalufs/Ayai napa hellholes?
Any must see tourist attractions around there as we do have a car with a full tank of petrol to use up.

we were at benalmadena in feb it was very nice, we stayed at the vistamar apartments which are away from the night clubs and nice and quiet for our 2 small children (2 1/2 and 4 months) but still close enough to the shops and a short walk to pubs n restaurants etc. its between fenguerolla (Sp) and torremolinos the busses are cheap and frequent. theres attractions in bothe the neighbouring places at benalmadena theres tivoli world which is a short walk up the hill, theres a fab cable car and a weekly market in the tivoli car park. theres a municiple park that has chickens and rabbits etc along with ponds and play areas behind the las arenas hotel which is nice for a walk, theres a market in the car park behind thepark every day. beach is nice and clean and the marina is well worth seeing, depends on what type of things you want to do i suppose. hope you have a nice holiday wherever you decide to go.  |

Avoid Torremolinos at all costs . Would also recommend Benalmadena for the reasons the others have said. As you have a car a day trip to Gibraltar is possible to stock up on cheap cigs & booze ( only 220 cigs & 1 litre of spirits each though ) . Also i really enjoyed my trip to the wolf park near antequera : http://www.beautifulyoo.com/lobo_wolf_park.htm Mijas is also worth a visit for the views back down to the coast . It's nice for souvenir shopping too. A map will be provided with your hire car so don't worry about routes right now. |

Defo Benalmadena. My nan has an apartment (near cardiac hill lol) so we go every year. Theres lots to do. Marina is lovely. Theres also a doplhin park (selwo i think???). We do Gib as well. Drive in, then leave and park in McDonalds car park and walk back through to airport and buy more duty free etc. In height of summer, you can do this a few times and go unnoticed by the border police

Just one thing to keep in mind if you do go down to Gib. Prepare to queue for an hour or more to get back over the border into Spain ( in the car - not on foot if you park across road in Mcdonalds & go back ) . Also (that's 2 things i know) if you are not in a rush save a few quid by going down on the N340 rather than the toll motorway. Takes a bit longer just depends if you want to pay tolls. |
