Any experience with walki talkies?

wont get any decent one's for that money. that 5k distance is in a direct line, with no obstructions inbetween, no other radio signals etc. they'd be great at about 100m on the beach but thats it. cheap **** =avoid!

Try before you buy is my tip. Most of them are rubbish, especially the cheap ones.

I have a pair of oregon scientific ones which work up to about a half a mile in a urban area. (I send one out with the OH when she nips to her friends so I can let her know when I want a cuppa

) Now lets see how many angry females that entices to post!

note - UPTO. you ever tried them half a hale away? might be lucky to get the beeping noise but there's noway you'd be able to actually hear the other person

Like I said WORK upto about half a mile away, not claim to work!!!

The father in law has some on the farm that are excellent though and use them to keep in touch when one or other of them is in a field thats about 1 1/2 miles off (although not many obstructions there) but they was around £200 a set of three!!

i have a pair that work (voice aswell as beeps) at almost a mile in an urban area, not the ones mentioned, but they were advertised with a 15 mile range.

When I went to the US, I went to some theme parks in orlando with the family. As you all probably know, they are massive.
Anyway, we bought walkie talkies while we were there as they were the best way to contact each other.
They worked upto 2 miles apart (apparently) But they did work right accross the theme parks.
They had a call button (like a ringtone) and 14 channels

I got 4 watch walkie talkings from ebay last year for about £50. They wernt great, although did the job in amsterdam when we were different sides of the hostel and immobile from the previous night...

just remember to turn them off when being intimate, its quite offputting having your mates try and chat to you during...
