The Internet is now mobile. The 3 USB modem gives you truly mobile broadband that's easy to use and won't cost you an arm and a leg. It means freedom from wires and hotspots, and access to the Internet at breakneck speeds.
Once you've got your hands on your shiny new USB modem you can be up and running in just five minutes. And when you're in a Turbo Network area you'll get lightening web access speeds of up to 2.8Mbps. Which means you'll be able to download files at the same speed as you would at home, but without being chained to your computer. It's Internet access whenever and wherever you want.

To use your 3 USB modem you'll need a few things. Your computer or laptop needs a minimum of 50MB hard disk space, 1 free USB port, a Windows 2000, XP, Vista or and Mac OSX operating system. Installation is quick and easy. And the great user-friendly Modem Manager interface not only manages your connection, it displays all the messages you receive on your mobile broadband number. You can even reply to your text messages while logged in.

Thought this review comment might help

You can only access the 3 website at first where you must top up some credit and then purchase one of their mobile broadband monthy options (1gb £10, 3gb £15, 7gb £25). Registering a credit card can take up to a week, so if you want to start surfing immediatly you''re best to buy a top up voucher in advance and credit your account that way.

USB dongles. huawei E220 ... and all others !! the SOFTWARE that comes with the 3 UNIT 's .. is massively FAULTY .. (and they KNOW THIS.)

i.a. : Tells you you have used e.g. 500 MB on your COMPUTER .. even if this is the ONLY computer you use the software on !!

They bill you 1 GIG ...

In other words YOU HAVE NO control on your computer .. Just on their INTERNET site ...??

Look at this as the mileage counter in your CAR ...
IF you want the TRUE mileage .. you write/Contact .. AUDI, VW, RENAULT, MERCEDES, TOYOTA .. etc.. on their INTERNET site .. to find out the current MILEAGE of your CAR!! ... in YOUR GARAGE/DRIVE

This is Veeeryyy ....ODD .. and is currently already investigated..by OFCOM.

STAY AWAY ..!... if you don't have a few £100 to waste!!

OK .. PREPAY might limit YOUR LOSS

. but you will have a totally UNPREDICTABLE credit account .. and might
NOT get anywhere NEAR YOUR monies worth ??

that is strange as I have one and the software that installs on your computer tells you what you are upping and downing, and if you want more detailed info you can find free software on the net.

I have one on contract with a 1gb cap and have never gone over. tis great as a backup or when out of the house.

Damned annoying that my laptop has a mobile modem built in and a sim slot but there's no software from 3 to use it. I'm stuck with t-mobile and a contract if I want to.

have you tried downloading ''mobile partner'' to use with the embedded modem ( i'm assuming its a stripped-down huawei e220 builtin modem) , better still find out who makes the embedded modem ''hardware tab'' under system properties & then obtain the firmware for it. generally speaking embedded modems are just stripped down versions of the USB ones.If you have no joy, them PM me with your laptop model & we'll take it from there. hope this helps

Uh... what are you on?

Of course they bill you 1 Gig. You're buying a bundle for use that month.

You know, like when you buy a 500gram tub of yogurt, you eat half of it, and the other half goes mouldy at the end of the month so you bin it. You don't go whining to Sainsbury's cos you had to bin the half you didn't eat.

Oh, and also as a side note, if you've got a 3 contract and will be using this for more than 3 months of the year, you'll be better off getting one of their free USB modems when you sign in to pay £5 a month for a year.

so is this the pay as you go equivilent of mobile broadband internet?

thus if i got the dongle i can just top up a couple of times a year to use when i'm away from home?

are there other companies that do similar things (as PAYG)?

and whats the signal quality like in actual use? can you use this to browse the web on a laptop on the train for example? (presumably getting cut off in tunnels). as rather than pay £10 or upgrade to use wifi on the train, i could get the dongle and pay £10 instead, and i can also get access in the hotel. i don't go away enough to warrant a contract, as i have broadband at home and internet access on my iphone

rather than a dongle, a card that fits inside the pcmcia slot in the laptop would be nicer

Just plug it into your mobile, buy a £10 top up voucher and you get 1gb that expires after 30 days, signal/connection is great. I also thought about about a contract but this way avoids any nasty bills and you're not tied in for 18 months.

great little device
