For the cash I feel that this is a decent buy, having looked at a few others you can get a slightly faster one (clock speed etc) for £50+, but at £43 this is a steal . . . . . reviews are decent too. Good find. Jer

is it not the point that we are assessing this one for £43? - NOT buying another at £43 + £50 to get a better one? Its a £43 card - NOT a £90+ card . . . . . its good value for money for folk wanting reasonable gaming/connections at affordable price.

For slightly less money you can get an 8600 GT with DDR3 versus this slower card with much slower DDR2. Forget the fact that it’s got 1GB of RAM as it’s irrelevant for this class of card. Very Cold.

GeForce 8600 GT 540MHz 256MB DDR3 versus GeForce 8500 GT 460MHz 1GB DDR2

But you can get a card with a faster GPU and faster RAM for a few pence less so I can’t see how that makes this hot.

Why spend so much money on a PC and then waste your money on a substandard GFX card? You would be better off sticking with onboard GFX rather than wasting your time with this card, as you won't be able to play anything released in the last 2 years at a good graphics level.

Its not worth it mate. This is not really a gaming card. Its more for multimedia. It will play high definition movies but the new games like and crysis will barely achieve 10 frames per second. This will be extremely jerky!! In fact it will look like your graphics arent moving.

I have one and its really not worth it. I can play call of duty 4 on the lowest settings but its not good enough.

If you have built a quad core machine why cheap out on the GPU?
I think you should consider the 9600. it is a decent priced card and handles the newest and most demanding games almost at the same level as a top end graphics card.

I think I saw one onhere for like 90.

an 8600GT with 256mb ram for about a fiver more would destroy this card in every test.

The 8500's are one of the worst cards Nvidia have released since the FX Series

The joke is that Ebuyer have the 8600 GT with DDR3 for less - http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/18557...mb-ddr3-dual-/

I wouldnt go that far to say it is like the FX series, it needs to be a fairer price (£20 to £30)

A 8600GT would be nearly double the performance

Basically this card is part of the 8 series bottom range along with the 8400GS which it is about 20% faster than it.
