Voted stone cold. In my experience, Tesco's fruit and veg is the poorest in terms of longevity out of Tesco, Morrisons, Asda, M&S and Somerfield. It is clearly not stored correctly in their stores/warehouses and I've had Tesco fruit & veg go off literally in a day (two days if we're lucky). Therefore, not even worth 50p.

This is a nationwide offer as part of the Tesco Fruit & Veg Price pledge whereby every week they have special offers on certain fruit & veg products.
However, when you consider the normal full price of a whole cumcumber is just 59p in lidl, the saving is not so great.
neilmonk - I bought a tesco half cumcumber 6 days ago and it's still good to eat. Perhaps it is you who is storeing the fruit & veg wrong after purchase as opposed to anything Tesco is doing before purchase. Put it this way, if I bought any item of fruit & veg from tesco and it had gone off literally within 24hours (and it was not caused by the way I had stored it) it would be returned for a refund or replacement. You also suggest the cucumber is not even worth 50p - perhaps you could advise where we could buy one for less please?

Because it's a 30%+ saving on the usual price.
This is Hot UK Deals and hence a place for all deals available in the UK to be posted, but just Martio Kart, Wii or various DVD offers.
I will extend the invitation to you as well, if you know where you can purchase a whole cucumber for less that 50p, please feel free to advise

Sorry guys but unless you are in need of 100 of these things then I think a posting about A cucumber for 20pence less is really pushing the limits.

Yes it's a bargain and YES it's 30percent cheaper but If I were to post that my local stationery shop was selling elastic bands for 2pence each instead of 4 pence (50% off) would that constitude a HDUK offer worthy of posting too?

I think not.

HDUK will end up as a listing for all of the jumble sales soon.

The differences between the cumcumber and the hypothetical rubber bands is:
1. The Tesco deal is nationwide, so available to all in the UK
2. We are all encouraged to eat more fruit & veg (5 a day) - a cucumber portion can be one of these. This is a whole cucumber, which will constitute more than one portion.
3. This is the cheapest price I can find nationally for a whole cucumber. The lidl offer at 29p each appears to have ended last week at our lidl. As I mentioned, they are now back to full price of 59p each.
So in short, if you know of where to buy cheap elastic bands accross the UK, please feel free to post details in your own thread

To the person who hates cucumbers, why on earth even enter thre thread? The title is quite clear as to the offer. Look for offers that you like to meet your 5 a day target (hopefully you like at least five different fruit & veg) but with some peoples comments on this thread it may be difficult to find anything.

Lots of threads on Mario Kart and various DVDs though. Perhaps people here think watching fitness DVDs or exercising their thumbs playing Mario Kart is a good alternative to healthy eating?

My local church jumble sale has available for sale a pair of grey Farah's, well I say a pair but one leg has been ripped of by the vicars dog that was apparently sent mad by being fed on cheap cucumbers from Tesco's, all offers are invited.
