Cheapest way to make India calls using free minutes on your mobile ( using 0207 number)

-51°

FOUND BY: deals1 3 months, 1 week ago

Calls to India: 1.5p/min

Method:

Take a tesco value sim card with double time ( 10 pounds card 20 pounds airtime)

text 'card' to 88022. They will text you a pin and the 0207 number. The pin will automatically topup once your credit expires. The charge is 3p/m. but since you get double the talk time it will cost you only 1.5p.

Hoever if you will use 0800 number the net cost will be 2.5p/min.

I have used it for last 4 months. voice quality to Delhi Landline or mobiles is excellent. Additionally it tells you about your balance after every call so you are aware of your usage.

There are a few deals posted from tesco for the mobile sim card. the link I have provided is the link to the card. The link to the sim card is

http://direct.tesco.com/promo/?id=S00005977

Hope this will be of use to someone. If you find a better deal post it here please otherwise if you feel this deal is useless, please do say why do you think so.

This deal is about the use of extra talk time you get from tesco mobile. It enables you to use the 20 pound airtime to call international numbers.

If you go to the Link they tell you about all the countries and the call rates.

Onviously since you are using tesco airtime( 50% of which is free). The call cost is also cut by 50%.

Am I right in assuming that the Tesco value sim card is simply a way of getting the PIN access code to dial through the 0207 number, but you need to make the actual calls to the 0207 from another phone which has free minutes (as landline calls from the Tesco Value sim card cost 15p per minute);

http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.200-8770.aspx

Some landlines (i.e. BT Free Weekends) allow free calls to landlines on the weekends so can use the 0207 number on the weekend, and use the PIN obtained from the double Tesco credit?

Further info on the other country calls charges are on http://www.planettalkcard.com/

This offer can work with any sim card which has introductory free credit. I'm sure there was something out there that was giving £10 free on new PAYG phone purchase, which cost £15 and if buying via Quidco, it was working out to be just a few quid. Need to find the free sim cards and start obtaining these free PIN codes

Looking at the home page of the site the deal links to it look like you send the text and your mobile is charged with a £5 calling credit fee. Then you can dial there 0207 number. It is an electronic version of the calling cards we all used to buy years ago. And unless you have free minutes on your phone then it is going to cost you to call the 0207 number. I think the op has got this very wrong. The 3p a minute gets deducted from your calling card credit which you have just bought by texting, and you still have to pay normal rates to call the 0207 number.

From the site:

1. Text ‘CARD’ to 88077 for £5 top-up or 88022 for £3 top-up
2. Receive a reply with the 0207 669 0999 access number and a PIN
3. Start calling abroad and saving immediately
