>8GB DDR2 800MHz Memory (4 x 2GB)

8Gb of ram is totally wasted in a 32 bit version of Windows.

32 bit Windows can only use 4Gb maximum, and this includes the memory in your graphics card.

In fact having 4Gb plus your graphics card memory can even slow your computer down.

To be honest 3Gb of memory is probably the most you need (or can use) in 32bit Windows.

Anything above that is a waste of money.

Thats one concern, however it doesnt say if its 32 or 64 bit. You can always put 64 bit on, and have a good machine for years to come

the os is free with this if you look at customising it in the options. you can always get any other os on there via legal or backhanded methods. for what it is, its an awesome piece of cheap kit!!!!

Problem is, there are few applications using 64 bit capability - including Photoshop!

I bought a Dell XPS 420 on friday morning from the outlet for £485 delivered.

XPS 420 Viiv Q6600 Quad Core 2.40GHz)
English Windows Vista Home Premium
Operating System: English Windows Vista Home Premium
English - Vista Home Premium
Memory: 4GB Dual Channel DDR2 800MHz [4x1024MB] mb
Hard Disk Drive: 500GB 7200rpm SATA HD
Video: SINGLE 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT card
Modem: Modem not included
CD Read-Write Drive: DVD+/-RW (ReadWrite) 16X
Software: BT, AOL, Tiscali ISP Combination
MISC: Vista OnLine Getting Started Guide (WW
Image Restore - Vista
Assembley Mod
19-in-1 Bluetooth Media Card Reader
Mouse Dell Wheel USB 2 Button Scroll Black
Dell Quietkey Black Keyboard
English - XPS 420 System Docs (UK power cord)

and then a 22" samsung monitor for £185

In total in came to under £680 for the lot.

This machine is good value but it depends what your needs are, 8Gb of ram as someone else points out unless you have a 64bit OS there is no point.
The dell system has a more powerful graphics card which was my main reason for purchasing.

Ok its an outlet machine but this is my 5th and never had any problems at all with them, my cousin 1 mesh system and now on his 3rd replacement.

They have featured on Watchdog in the past,

Cold for me. A mismatched system and the 8GB of RAM is completely pointless for the vast majority of people even if they do give the option of a 64 bit version of Windows which isn’t clear.
As someone already stated you can get a better spec XPS 420 from Dell for about £450 - 500 and then buy a 22” TFT with the change and get a full 3 year warranty with the monitor. The XPS has an onsite warranty also with 24/7 phone support.

Mesh customer services are less than stellar. Do a web-search for it. I have some friends who have bought from them and our company also has. They and us were let down very badly. I would never order from them again and would not recommend them to anyone.

If you say what spec you require or even better what you want to use it for I'm sure someone here will help.
