No it's certainly not.. 12MP perhaps overkill for the average home user plus the 3x zoom on this camera is rather ****.

Got to agree I'm afraid, spend the money on a Canon/Nikon/Fuji/Panasonic etc. and you'll get a much better camera for your money. I suspect Argos intended all along to reduce the price of this to make it look good and so gave it a somewhat inflated original price assuming that nobody would buy it.

Cheap rubbish, Hitachi don't even make cameras. These are some taiwanese company that make cheap cameras and badge them up under license for places like argos.
