Surely all helmets meet the correct standard, when you pay extra for a top of the range arai or shoei you are paying extra for

1. the name.
2. lower weight.
3. extra features which will not affect safety.

As i was once told by a police motorcycle rider if the content of your head is worth 30 pounds then spend 30 pounds on a helmet.

All helmets meet the minimum of the current standard...and thats fine if you want the bare minimum between your skull and the tarmac.

I do understand that of course brand names are going to take advantage but the way i see it im paying for their R&D programs. That ensure im getting the best technology to protect what little skull content i have from potentially horrific reprecussions.

i mean sure the 200 pound shoei is going to differ very little from the 500 pound shoei because as you say the extra features that do not affect safety like vents, removable lining etc but you first have to reach the level of a 200 pound shoei,.
