The wonders of web 2.0 applications. Any voting system is merely a popularity contest, it frequently bears little or no correlation to how good the deal is.
Actually good deals do end up hot for the most part, however there are a lot of people here that vote every deal cold fo no reason and there is a 'fanboi' element where people vote cold against products they dislike. In it's purest sense, Hot/Cold voting should only be down to whether on not it is a good PRICE. In practice people will vote cold for stupid reasons like they do not like Tesco or vote cold against 360 deals because they have a PS3.
For the most part, good voters mask these idiots.
