Super camera, only thing puts me off is the AA batteries, I like having the rechargeable units otherwise Id buy it.
Being able to use AA rechargables is big plus point for me. I've been using Hybrio rechargables in mine. I've only had my camera a week; without using flash I filled a 1Gb card on a single charge. I tested them on flash and took over 35 shots without the flash recharge slowing down appreciably.
I bought mine as a refurb from Fuji for £109 which was too good a deal to resist. I'm really pleased with the camera but if you buy one don't expect fantastic picture quality:-
The bad points:
- Reds don't seem to be handled too well - for me they are washed out and there is no 'in camera' correction for this. (I have compared my camera with a friends S8000fd and it is no worse.)
- The video quality isn't the best - I think they use too high a compression; the sound is very good for a compact camera.
- Image quality is nowhere near that of a digital SLR - this does use a compact camera CCD after all.
Good points:
- The Zoom! (Ok it's not the fastest and sometimes you have to move to frame the shot just right - but it's still pretty good)
- Macro and Super Macro
- Flash! - This has great range from Macro to about 18 feet, even on auto it gets the exposure about right and the colours seem stronger than without.
- The Price! It might not be as good as the Panny FZ18 but is the Panny £80 better?
