Voted Hot. Good Plasma for the cash.
So what if its not 1080p, These 1080p Fanboys should wake up and smell the coffee. 99% of them dont even now what they are on about! I was in a store a few weeks back looking at a 42 Panasonic and this stupid sales man aproached me and his first words 'you dont want that its not 1080p' So I replied and said ok what does the 'P' stand for? He didnt have a clue, He got his line manager, that Donut didnt havea clue either. Most people dont know what they are selling, or buying. Anyway I just gave then a little Tutorial and told them to **** off! How they looked so stupid realising they have just lost well over a grand in sales as they ran away tail well between their legs.
If you have a HD video source (Sky HD, Freesat HD, Blu-Ray or HD-DVD) then the signal this is sending to your tv has a resolution of 1920 × 1080. Unless you tv has the same resolution as this (full hd) then you are loosing detail. Yes in smaller TV's you may not notice this but on a 42" plasma the difference will be noticable.
A standard definition tv signal has a resolution of 720x576 (414720 total pixels), 720p has 1280x720 (921600 total pixels). Can you tell the difference between these? well if you can then considering that 1080p has 1920x1080 (2073600 total pixels) and the jump from 720p to 1080p is greater than the jump from SD to 720p then you are crazy to say the difference wont be noticed.
I know sky and freesat signals are 1080i but blu-ray and HD-DVD are 1080p.
Dont get me wrong, this is a good tv and a good price and I have voted hot but I think people need to be made aware the facts about HD resolutions rather than just peoples opinions.
