This is definately worth bearing in mind as the average throughput of USB is around half that of either FW800 or eSATA, regardless of the model of drive inside. Interesting that you quote FW400 for the new model, I thought everyone was using FW800 in their new models.
Yeah I was a bit disappointed, can't use eSATA since I'm using an Apple but FW800 would have been sweet.
That said unless you're transferring enormous amounts of data on a regular basis USB is perfectly adequate, it also means I can use it in my hub rather than taking up an extra port on the computer.
