Cheap tyres at Costco - various sizes

261°

FOUND BY: jebervic 1 year, 4 months ago

Just got four 195/65 R15 Tyres with fitting included for £31 each, you can pay now and have them fitted at anytime within 2 years.

You have to go to Costco and order the tyres, the brand is Kormoran, a Polish company bought out by Michelin- good quality tyres.

These tyres are not on display- you have to ask for them and they order them for you.

165 tryres are around £25

I always buy my tyres (Michelin) from Costco, they tend to issue a voucher every 4-6 months giving £20-£40 of a set of four.

Tried a price match with another company "National" and they don't even buy the tyre in at Costco's price (that what they said)....

Costco are normally the cheapest for Michelins by quite a margin.

They have also done Kornorans for years - and I found them far better tyres than the Michelin 'Classics' - but they were only available in sizes for small or common cars.

Costco also do an offer once or twice a year on Michelins - whereby if you buy four you get one free (or something similar). Normally this offer is in their 'passport book',

Yeah I was wondering the same thing. Also, you guys who have purchased your tyres now but are waiting to have them fitted. That seems like a great way to take advantage of todays prices, next year. However, what happens if costco go bust? You'd lose your money. Just a thought.

The Zafira has tyres that are a fairly common size.

Yes. Although one thing that differs to everything else in Costco - is they will give you the price over the phone for tyres.

You buy the tyres and keep them yourself until they are fitted. So if you buy tyres and there's a queue to fit them - you take them to be fitted the next tome you are there.

It used to be you could just buy the tyres - but could also pay an extra quid (plus VAT) which covered their being fitted balanced - and a new valve shoved in. - But I think the price is all inclusive now - someone will correct me if i am wrong.

The downside with their fitting is they always seem to use too little tyre sealant.

My brother works as a Manager for a big tyre company and gets his tyres from Costco as even with staff discount cannot match the prices. You do have to be a member of Costco to buy tyres there, Membership is about £23 a year, but you eaisly save that in one visit. I buy all elcterical appliances there as they are so much cheaper and have a no quibble 2 year guarantee. For example I purchased a dvd recorder and after 18 months it was not playing some dvds for some reason. I rang up and they said to bring it back, i did so and got my money back with no problems and purchased a better make for £50 less in the same store (as the price had reduced). Lunch is cheap there too as £1.25 for a huge baked spud with fillings and drinks 50p. Only thing with it, as stock rotates so quickly, you have to buy when you see something often. You can also sometimes get ex-display clearances, for example we went recently and got a 6 foot fridge/freezer for £139. Had to pay the delivery man who collects from the store £10 for it to be delivered on the day.

All costco tyres are inflated with nitrogen to keep the tyre cool and you definitely have to be a member to buy anything from there.

I've always found Costco excellent for quoting prices over the phone for anything, electrical items, food etc. I think they are happy to do that to make up for the lack of a web presence or a regular mailing (like Makro)

Cheers
Simon

I assumed that as my local costco only sells Michelin tyres it was some form of Michelin franchised outlet, or even Michelin directly?

Unfortunately last time I got a quote they were way too expensive compared to my local retailer.

But that price is a bargain..

As I said, these tyres are not on display, you have to ask for them, 4 tyres for an MPV for £125 fitted and balanced at anytime within two years has to be a bargain?

Wow are they still doing Kormorran? Had them on my old Nissan Almera (RIP) from Costco. Quality budget tyres which were 30 quid each fitted plus some discount for getting 4 done together :D

The Costco I go to, Trafford Park, have claimed for a while now that they no longer stock the Kormorrans.....

I recently paid £108 for each Michelin "heavy load" tyre (needed two front ones)that includes vat, fitting and balancing. Most of my local garages were charging around £164 each! best price reduce to £150 and said they couldn't get hold of them due to limited supply.

I had to order the tyres from costco (3 weeks wait) as Michillen had changed the spec and produce them in batches.

Costco fitted them while we did some shopping there. My tyres were two front ones, but they moved the rear tyres(still with very good tread) to the font and install the new tyres on the back, said because people don't generally rotate the tyres and Costco were told (by HO I guess) that they had to do that! The job was more long winded because I have alloy wheels with sensors.

Always recommend Costco for new tyres . Costco told me they only deal with Michelin, so surprised to hear they have other brands.
