I have searched high and low and not found a better deal than this for a 2GB RAM (there is a refurb from bigpockets that does and it has a 120gb whilst this has 160) laptop, shame its only 1.6ghz.

With a Mirage 3+ I would AVOID this notebook like the plague. The intel 950 is a much better GPU, and even it's ****. I wouldn't settle for less than an Intel X3100 or Radeon X1200.

There are some very good deals out there for around this price - I got my fiancee a 14" Celeron for this price, but with an X3100 (only 1gb ram though) - and that was almost a year ago. (It's now about £270). There have been Core 2 Duo Dells with X3100s on here for about this. The gateway deal is much better, even if it is a refurb.

The processor and, perhaps, brand are the only thing going for this one...

Don't just look at processor, and especially not just RAM. The two things that you want a good combination of are GPU and CPU - the 2 things you can't change. Better to compromise so they are both at a similar levels. (or more GPU if you want games, more CPU for processor intensive applications). You can upgrade 512MB ram to 2GB for £20 (selling the 512MB). .

I agree with the previous reviewer. Even GMA 950 becomes a bottle neck compared to X3100 with Vista. Of course, if you run XP on this laptop, you'll be fine.
