I'd vote absolute zero if I could.

FYI the majority of television viewers arent into HD or games either. But they're snapping up LCD televisions because a CRT is a big, hideous, flickering box that takes up far too much space.

Actually, this is a wind up, isnt it.

I had this TV and sold it for £100 about a year ago. Only paid about £200 for it 2 years ago in the Jan sales so this aint a great price.

It's no wind up. LCD will never reach CRT quality, same for monitors. This is why tv studios and graphic designers use CRT and not LCD. I agree with the size though but CRT cost less than half the electricity of LCD tv's.

I I thought LCD used LESS electricity than CRT. The piccy from my Sony LCD TV blows a CRT picture into a cocked hat.

This means the industry has made a good job of hiding the facts about electricity use.

no way dude, i've had them all and tbh my current 50" plasma has a good a picture as any of the top range crts had, have to agree about lcd's though
it really is all down to your own eyes.
At this price its not a good deal, and the comment about 28crt=26lcd wth does that mean?
lcds and plasma's are full screen views so any crt at same size has LESS viewing area,
wth did this guy get his info?

Madmanc,

Maybe so, but technical performance and appreciation sells very little these days. If we were all so discerning, the world wouldnt be flooded with iPods and we'd all be huddled round Linn turntables nodding our heads in pious appreciation.

Anyway get some reality, this is a Daewoo CRT. A Daewoo. Some old Panasonic CRTs are very, very good, but this is no Grade 1 Sony Broadcast monitor is it.

Don't know about the quality of image (IQ) on this set, but I still can't justify ditching my 28" Panasonic CRT set for LCD or plasma. The fact is that broadcast TV (Freeview) looks 100x better on my set than on any LCD/plasma I've ever seen. DVDs and kids' Xbox look great too, albeit not quite as good as on a good LCD/Pl. As long as most of our viewing is Freeview, for me a good CRT is still the one to beat for IQ.

Power consumption? My set's rated at 90W. Yes, it's big and bulky and it sits in a corner (as, I suspect, do many LCDs).

Anyone arguing the "picture quality" of a CRT needs to go back to special school.

Its a matter of pixels. A CRT has only the standard def array of resolution to display. Meaning the picture will always be sized properly. No ugliness.

On an HD LCD or Plasma, pixels are resized, as the set of the resolution is higher.

I own both a samsung 32" HD LCD, and a 28" JVC CRT set. Like a non-thick person, I use quality connections and HD consoles with my LCD. And with my CRT, I use older games consoles, like the PS2 and further back.

Neither type of set wins outright, but at £180 for a CRT, you would literally have to be brain-damaged. PEOPLE ARE LITERALLY GIVING THESE AWAY ON GUMTREE AND FREECYCLE.

Still can't get over you OP. £180 for a set that causes headaches, radiation, consumes power like a fat kid does crisps and IS A RELIC OF THE PAST... you're just... Ah I give up.
