I bought a set of these (branded Polaris) on the high street recently for £30 and thought I'd get some for my kids too. Checking out the Net I found Wiggle selling them for £17.99 the set, half the usual price, and £7 cheaper than the 3-LED set in the same range. They're powerful, well-made and street legal, and the set I bought included good batteries.

Or for cheaper ones try lidl £3.99 for front and rear great for kids bikes

Budget lights for kid's bikes made by the same company, not the same lights. I doubt those ones meet legal requirements. For one thing, although the listing says 5 LED, the picture clearly shows they have 3. As the other poster said, you can pick up cheap light sets in Tesco or Lidl for less than a tenner, if money is the only consideration...

I purchased the rear light from Wiggle recently, £8.00 reduced from £16.00. It has an incredible light output (0.5W) and can be seen from hundreds of metres away.

A flashing red LED is now entirely legal on the rear of a bicycle, so no legal implications. The idea is to be seen, and with one of these that is no problem! One of the reasons I got it was for time trials on a busy road and it is excellent for this purpose.

The other ones posted on here litterally cannot 'hold a candle' to this Smart one.

If you look more closely there are 5 it's just that the diffuser has 3 clear spots to correspond with the 3 centre led's. i.e. centre 3 to be seen from a distance outer 2 more diffused to light up the lamp...
Still not a patch on the Wiggle ones.
