Tiscal are cheap. Thats then end of the positives from me. Was with them until January. If their service works then fine but hit a problem and I guarentee you will turn grey with stress trying to deal with their customer support. They put a block on online gaming but wouldnt admit it and their technicians are useless and read from a script.

Its a good price but I would not recommend. I know others that like Tiscali but those that do are usually the people who have never tried to deal with customer or technical support. Look at any broadband review site and Tiscali will usually be down there at the bottom.

Switched to O2 Broadband in Jan and never looked back. You get what you pay for.

Just checked this out myself today and compared with talktalk global evening and weekends. Here are the main differences: International daytime and evening calls are very expensive with tiscali (from 15p/7p) compared to talktalk (from 2p/0p). Talktalk has a 30-day trial, tiscali doesn't. Tiscali is a 12 months contract, talktalk is a 18 months contract. All other costs and services are the same (both include free wireless modems). Both services enjoy an equally bad reputation in forums. My conclusion is if you plan to make international and UK day and evening calls, talktalk is much cheaper. You need to commit to talktalk for 18 months but you get the 30-day trial. If you don't like the service you go back to BT and it costs you nothing (exept any chargeable calls you made). Talktalk looks to me the better deal on paper, but I must stress that I have no experience with either services.

I've had horrible first hand experience of Tiscali's "customer service". It took months to get them to stop billing me after I left. I wouldn't touch them with your barge pole. Cold.

Agreed cheap but just taken 8 months to get my mum on it and the customer service and technical assistance is shocking. Join at your peril.

If you pay virgin £21 for just broadband you are seriously overcharged. Virgin broadband is £9 per month. For tiscali you need a BT line but the line rental is payable to tiscali not BT when you switch over to tiscali. Same with talktalk.

Recently switched to Tiscali from Virgin as they installed a new BT line at no extra cost. Up to 8MB broadband, Free w/e local and international calls, Free wifi router - all for £9.99 (first 3 months) & £14.99 thereafter. Price includes £11 line-rental usually charged by BT. Very pleased with the value

Max download speed is 6.5Mb dropping to < 250kbs during peak time !!. Although its not Tiscali's fault, switching from a cable to ADSL broadband was a mistake, me thinks

I think tiscali are good - as long as you know what you are doing and are a bit more tech savvy than the average bear.
If not - then pay a bit more and go for a better provider

Edi, you sure thats not Tiscali's fault re the drop in speed during peak times? Perhaps more Techie people can shed some light on it. This happened to me when I was on Tiscali too and they kept saying it was because my exchange was busy. Ive never noticed any drop in speed with O2 at any times of day.
