Hanns-G 28" monitor + 3 year on-site warranty + £11 quidco

£265.86

268°

FOUND BY: craigthaagensen 1 year, 2 months ago

great price for a 28" monitor(27.5" viewable) if you go through quidco you get £11 back aswell, I read several reviews before I bought mine and theres a mixture of positive and negative, having got this monitor it looks fantastic but you need to take the time to calibrate it as it looks like poo straight out of box in all honesty. mine came with no dead pixels, it is great for movies and games!

£265.86 including postage, mine was sent out next day and came day after with citylink.

monitor has hdcp support aswell on the hdmi

Does this have 1:1 pixel mapping? so if you set it to 1920x1080 or plugged in a PS3 will it have black bars along the top/bottom? It may have a menu option to enable this?

Why do it want that? so if i plug in a freeview box with hdmi it wont stretch the picture!

For most people it will be neither here nor there!

Even if someone wants to watch movies with it, lets face it, they very likely are used to raised black levels and saturated upper end!

Excellent monitor – I give it full marks – Also won Computer shopper award for best value monitor this month.

Misco do not have any in stock but they do order on request, hence my monitor took less than a week to arrive from misco.

You won't find more than 1000:1 contrast at this price range (real, not dynamic) and this can actually acheive close to the stated contrast so it should be fairly good in that respect.

This is a repost though, is it possible to merge the deals or something?

This question was asked on the other thread but no-one seemed to answer it.

Does anyone know how this screen handles inputs other than at its native resolution?

How is it at scaling lower resolutions and how does it handle none 16:10 sources such as from a PS3 etc, i.e. is it just stretched to 16:10 or can it be kept in its oar?

My understanding of this monitor is that it streches any image to 1920 x 1200, and therefore will be of limited use for non pc use.

I am currently considering buying one of these to replace my aging 21" CRT monitor. For pics and comments regarding 16:9 ratios I would suggest you look here:

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/sho...php?t=17903713

The whole PS3, 360 16:9 debate starts on page 4 post 91 onwards

Thanks go to PoisonJam who originally posted this, but due to the age of the old thread we're going to let this one run.

I'm very tempted, but there's some things I'm curious about first:

What exactly does an 'on site warranty' constitute - does it mean that someone would visit and take it apart at your house, or does it mean that they'd come with a replacement or something?

Also, do you have to register at a certain place with certain details in a certain time-frame after buying the monitor if you wish to be covered by the warranty?

EDIT: Also, just so I know - does it come with any cables in the box?

Thanks
