Thanks for the photos and comments. But OMG, why is it cold? I think I'm going to give up posting deals as each time it's voted cold without so much as a comment. Why do people take it upon themselves to vote cold if they don't have a valid reason to say why? If it isn't relevant to you then don't vote at all.

Haven't voted, but would image the cold votes are because vivitar is a pretty poor make for cameras.

Appreciated, as I said I know they're not the most fantastic of makes, but in my opinion should we be voting on whether something is a good deal, not whether it's a good make? For example, this camera isn't fantastic but then for £40, plus a waterproof case, plus a £9 camera case surely that makes it a good deal, especially if for a child's first camera? Or is it just me that thinks that?

I just think, and by this I'm not including you as you haven't voted, but a lot of people make an opinionated vote as something is not good enough for them (ie in this case they pay more for Canon/Olympus rather than bog standard Vivitar) but for someone who doesn't have much money it would be hot, if it's not relevant to me personally then I don't bother to vote hot or cold, I just don't think a lot of people think like that.

I know what I mean and want to say but can't quite get it across quite right, hopefull I'm making a bit of sense?!? Thanks for taking the time to let me know your opinion though.

Yes it has an underwater case - but is it going to be an unused extra?

Dont get hung up on voting. Its nice to get a deal everyone thinks is good, but if they dont, make them drool for the next one!

About a year ago, I bought 2 canon cameras for the kids which cost me the same as this one. Granted they are only 4 megapixel (Canon A430), but I would gauge my thoughts on this.

Anyway, just to cheer you up.... have +9 degrees .

I'd buy the case if the camera was free with it
But who wants to pay £39.99 for an £8.99 case with a useless camera as part of the package? The Vivitar isn't even worth the price with the free case i'm afraid.
The only circumstance where i'd buy this camera is if it cost a tenner with a free 1gb SD card, then i'd maybe buy 25 and put one on each lunch table at my wedding reception.

you are all a bunch of snobs. i bought the previous model for £30 and took on holiday - it is pretty much bomb proof an provided you set it to burst mode you will get good pictures from it.

for any parent this is an excellent alternative to the gaudy tough cameras that were on here yesterday which were voted v hot and yet only have 649x480 resolution ;)

HOT!!!

My thoughts entirely and probably better said - thankyou. I think this is a great camera and price for kids, especially if like my 7 yr old daughter, they are too old for the Fisher Price and Vtech ones, and she'll LOVE the waterproof case. Why don't people get "it" rather than dissing the camera, I'm not recommending it for David Bailey!! In fact, I think I'll edit the title.

I disagree on the snob comment. Vivitar cameras are not cheap because they want us to have a bargain. They are cheap because they are garbage. They were not always cheap either.
The prices have been reduced because no-one wants the brand when there are so much better cameras available for just a little more money (£49.99 and greater). I truly think that £39.99 is wasted money when many better cameras are available for just a little more.
Yeah OK, for the kids it can be a toy and will suffice. I'll agree with you on that
