^^ ^^ Yep, clearly not a PS3 fanboy........ Mate of mine who works for Atari said that they make PS3's from old VHS recorder bodies and that they are made in Africa by Lemurs. Of course, he can't prove it but hey, he works for Atari so it must be true???
I think that you may find that the fact that piracy has hit the 360 quite hard would explain why sales may have overtaken on PS3 which has remained a tough nut to crack. You can't use one software house like CM as a litmus test for the whole console market anyway! The recent price drops are probably more to do with unit sales and production cost than fear of the PS3...... just wish that greatly anticipated game Haze would come on 360...... oh thats right, it was cack!!!!!
FYI, from IGN, not some bloke from the pub:
Xbox 360 Trumps PS3 sales in August
Madden scores a touchdown, but Too Human gets off to a slow start.
by Ryan Geddes
US, September 11, 2008 - Microsoft sold fewer Xbox 360 consoles in August than it did in July, but it still managed to outpace sales of Sony's PlayStation 3, according to data provided by the NPD Group today.
The PS3 had been inching ahead of the 360 in unit sales over the past few months, but in August
Sony's machine sold only 185,400 units,
compared to Xbox 360's 195,200. It's a slim margin, but it gives Microsoft its first clear sales victory over rival Sony in months.
As usual, Nintendo's systems outsold every other platform in the known universe. The Wii sold 453,000 units, and the DS moved 518,300. Although massive, those numbers are down over Nintendo's July figures.
Here are the official console unit sales figures from NPD:
Xbox 360 – 195,200
PlayStation 3 – 185,400
Nintendo Wii – 453,000
PlayStation 2 – 144,100
Nintendo DS – 518,300
PlayStation Portable – 253,000
On the software front, the month of August belonged to Madden. The Xbox 360 version of the perennial football favorite sold an even 1 million copies, making it one of only three 360 games to crack the top 10 in August. Silicon Knights' Xbox exclusive Too Human moved a disappointing 168,200 copies during its first two weeks on the market, selling about 6,000 units less than Namco Bandai's Soulcalibur IV. Aside from Madden, the rest of the glory belongs to Nintendo, which dominated the software top-ten with Wii Fit, Mario Kart and Wii Play.
Here's a full breakdown, courtesy of NPD:
1. Madden NFL 09 (360) – 1M
2. Madden NFL 09 (PS3) - 643K
3. Madden NFL 09 (PS2) - 424.5K
4. Wii Fit (Wii) - 394.9K
5. Mario Kart (Wii) - 328.7K
6. Wii Play (Wii) - 200.2K
7. Soulcalibur IV (360) - 174K
8. Too Human (360) - 168.2K
9. Madden NFL 09 (Wii) - 115.8K
