FOUND BY: topcat63 1 year, 2 months ago

Was in Somerfields this evening -just saw shelf label for Three Barrels Brandy - half price £7.50 !
None on shelf but when I asked assistant he said they had some in back.
Came back with 3 bottles - 1 still left ;)
Normally £12 or more at Asda and Tesco
(5% Student discount voucher would drop price to £7.13 ish!)
Worth checkin' out

Its a nice deal - but why is it our country prevents us buying this type of thing in supermarkets after 10.00 at night or on sunday mornings too?

If you went on holiday and this type of thing happened when you went into the supermarket, you would feel you were visiting a third world country.

I wouldn't, I would just think I'm in a country with weird alcohol laws. Personally, I haven't noticed a connection between the times you are allowed to buy alcohol in shops and poverty...

you've obviously never had to queue for hours each day to buy bread. the stuff on tv about third world countries is so much worse that even i can't imagine what it feels like.

having to come back to a store to save a few £ on a (non-essential) product just doesn't compare.

The sooner you realise that you’re privileged (i assume that because you have access to internet and hence electricity, etc...) the sooner you’ll feel happier.

Revenge of the early bedders and bible thumpers!!!!

The third world country issue was meant to be taken lightheartedly, given the majority of us don't holiday in third world countries. Geez!!!

OK - let's rephrase it.

Why should there be a restriction on when you can buy alcohol?

Funnily there is no restriction if you buy it in bulk, so while a box of twelve bottles of spirits has no restrictions, or I think its 120 cans and you are fine (a local petrol station used to do this).

To those who objected previously - do you feel you lack any capacity or judgement outwith the times you find yourself restricted within?

Yes, I have noticed this too.

When you have no money left, they prevent you from buying it.

Because alcoholics need a holiday too?

I'm not sure this stands as true - most supermarkets block off the alcohol aisle once the time passes so ANY sale is stopped.
