STARTS: 09/10/2008

Hope this hasn't already been posted;

Lidl are selling 4x remote plug sockets for £12.99 from Thursday 9th October

I bought these last time around and they are excellent, and unlike most other sets you get 4 plugs, not 3 and one is dimmable.

They are not infra-red so will work through walls etc, not much use otherwise. They work up to 40 metres.

Who's selling the IR ones as I would prefer these, then I can work it through my 1 for all, instead of another remote control.

"I bought these last time around and they are excellent, and unlike most other sets you get 4 plugs, not 3 and one is dimmable"

Actually, one is dimmable.

Remote Controlled Socket Set
Set contains 3 sockets, 1 dimmer and remote control
Operating range up to (m): 40
For indoor use only
230V - 50Hz
Remote control supplied with 9V battery
Supplied with instruction manual
3 year manufacturer's warranty
Price per set
12.99*

Only available while stocks last

My brother bought these a year or two ago when they were £10, the ones he got were faulty - a wire missing on the remote PCB, which he fixed himself as they'd sold out. The remote is a tad large compared to some.

These RF ones are much better, you can switch stuff off or on anywhere in the house.

Based on the appliances I could not easily get to the sockets on and thus where always in “standby” before I started using these I estimated savings at around £50 - £60 a year if they are used religiously in my scenario.

So well worth doing.

BTW "standby" power usage for these is negligible; it hardly even registers on a power usage meter...

Great for garden lights as you can put the remote sockets in your shed...if you have power there!
You can then impress everyone f(or about 10 seconds) that you can light up the garden from inside!

1001 uses arround the house.
