Seems like RAC are doing a pretty good deal at the moment, you buy any of the solution options (these are the more comprehensive cover options) and you get either £25 off for solution 1 and 2, or £40 off solution 3 and 4.
Basically you pay the full price when you take out the policy, but get either £25 or £40 paid into your account after 40 days. Plus if you go through quidco you get an extra £20 on solution 1 and 2, £30 on solution 3 and £40 on solution 4!

Would still work out £50 for solution 1.
I think there are better deals out there like the on MSE where you pay upfront and claim it back.

I agree with you not everyone would be which is why it is cheaper they rely on people not claiming back - you do have to be on the ball but the savings are worth it.
